get the eMusic key for you iCuffs

nytimes has a sweet article about how apple and record companies are screwing online music consumers.  but fret not, there is an answer:

Unlike the four major labels — Universal, Warner Music Group, EMI and Sony BMG — the independents provide eMusic with permission to distribute the music in plain MP3 format. There is no copy protection, no customer lock-in, no restrictions on what kind of music player or media center a customer chooses to use — the MP3 standard is accommodated by all players.

emusic has tons of great stuff, as the independent lables they carry represent 30% of the music sold out there (and probably the better 30% at that).

their reggae selection isn't too hot (but is growing).  i was able to find this gem though: dance hall style by horace andy.  ah yeah!  RC2K will love that!

so hit 'em up and sign yourself up for that 25 song download free trial.
