state champ criterium

state crit was yesterday. the team rode a brilliant race. we were figured that the other teams would probably expect us to ride for me or chad (the last two winners of the race) and so we set about to set up morgan schmidt who's been riding quite well and has a lot to gain by winning the race.

i don't know what the other teams were really thinking but after a bunch of attacks and moves including some of the bigger names, morgan went with sundt. great move for us and the other teams didn't react quickly enough and the duo got a large gap quickly. we chased down most bridge attempts (or in one case, even helped it 'cause it seened like a good opportunity) but nothing really got close.

those two would eventually lap the field. the guys lined up for morgan and help him get the win.

there was still a lot of action for third place. chad and i were getting into the moves and having the luxury of sitting on everything. in the last ten minutes chad attacked and got a bit of a gap. the other riders kept him with in reach (while i relaxed with another teammate to help me out). kenny attacked on the last lap. clayville closed him down but we lost him again in the technical section. i had him within reach but i hosed the final corner and got close to taking him for third but just not quite able to get past. chad held on for 5th.

in then end we were 1st, 4th, 5th and 8th. not bad.
