big weekend. check the race report for more about the racing.
always enjoy the trip to walla walla. great countryside and a nice little town. the whole culture surrounding the whitmans kinda bugs, but what can you do? yeah, the whitman massacre. lots of tributes to the dead white people. any tributes to the many more dead indians? i didn't see any.
went with michelle and our friend gwen. which means that sexy sadie the golden retriever comes along. and seabass, of course. so yeah, we had the car packed with people, bikes, bike stuff, cat and dog. the cat travels damned well. she pretty much just curls up wherever she feels like and goes to sleep.
we stayed at the howard johnson, aka, the HoJo. seabass and sadie got along marvelously, playing even, although sadie hasn't quite figured out how to finess the size difference in the games they play.
dinner was at some grapefields restaurant there in town. good food. a little extreme on the protein, if you ask me. not many people did ask me, but if they had, i would would have told them.
after the criterium on sunday we busted it out of town pretty quick, but not before stopping for a shake at iceburg. ah yeah, coconut (good fat, good fat!). it was oh so tasty. drove to ellensburg and stopped in at the red horse drive in, a burger joint that seth and i frequented back in the day. i had a large root beer float (and they know how to make 'em!), a burger (1/3 lb patty, sauteed onions and mushrooms with swiss cheese), fries and onion rings. ok, i didn't finish the fries. it was a damned good meal. gotta do it every once in a while. i think michelle and gwen paid the price for their respective burgers and fries. i felt (and feel) great. ah yeah!
